  • Accident & Emergency (A&E) clinical quality indicators

    The A&E clinical quality indicators were introduced as part of the NHS Outcomes Framework 2011/2012, developed by the Department of Health in conjunction with the College of Emergency Medicine.

  • Armed Forces Healthcare

    All Strategic Health Authorities have been instructed by the Department of Health to establish a network to ensure that Armed Forces personnel, their dependants and veterans suffer No disadvantage from their Service.

  • Delivering Revalidation

    Revalidation is the process by which licensed doctors will demonstrate to the GMC that they are up to date and continue to be fit to practise.

  • Emergency preparedness

    We work with all the NHS services in London to make sure we are prepared in the case of a large scale emergency in London.

  • Enhanced Recovery Programme

    Enhanced Recovery, also known as Rapid or Accelerated Recovery or Fast Track surgery, is an evidence-based approach to the care of patients, before, during and after a scheduled surgical procedure.

  • GP development programme

    The NHS in London is committed to supporting GPs through this journey to become authorised GP consortia by April 2013. To provide this support NHS London is working with GPs, sectors and PCTs to establish a regional development programme for GP consortia in London.

  • Improving Cancer Care

    The NHS Cancer Plan published in September 2000 first introduced three specific cancer waiting time standards.

  • Improving dementia care and prescribing

    Late last year Care Services Minister Paul Burstow publically announced that reducing the level of antipsychotic prescribing to people with the dementia was a national priority and tasked SHAs with bringing greater drive to this work in order to deliver significant reductions in 2011.

    During 2010/11 the London Pathology Modernisation Programme has been developing the clinical and service case for change for pathology services in London in response to the national pathology programme.

  • Personal health budgets

    Personal health budgets are a new way of giving patients more control and choice over their healthcare

  • Promoting Innovation
  • Publishing NHS data

    NHS London is making more information about London's healthcare services available to the public. We want to give patients, the public and the market direct access to London's NHS data so they can use it however they see fit, free of charge.

  • QIPP - Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention

    QIPP is a large-scale national initiative for the NHS which will improve the quality of care the NHS delivers while making up to £20 billion of efficiency savings by 2014-15 across England.

  • Quality for Nurses and Midwives

    The London quality matters group is a pan London group working with NHS London to deliver the quality agenda and initiatives relating to nursing and midwifery.

  • Reducing infection

    We expect all London hospitals to be as clean and safe as possible and that they are doing everything they can to make sure staff have the skills, the knowledge and the resources to ensure that healthcare can be provided in an infection-free environment.

  • Reducing waiting times

    We challenge and support PCT Clusters and Trusts to improve their processes and streamline patient pathways to improve access and reduce waiting times for treatment.
